Classes at Uniontown YMCA
1 YMCA Dr., Uniontown, Pa. 15401

Slow Flow - 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 10, 17, 25 & 31 and 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 5, 12, 19 & 26
This all-levels flow (vinyasa) yoga class links breath with movement in a light and creative way. Moving at a slow, steady pace allows time for students to fully experience each posture, building strength and coordination in standing and balancing poses and deepening flexibility and relaxation in seated and supine stretches. Slow Flow increases mind-body awareness and total-body strength and provides a healthy challenge through graceful sequencing. This is a soul-soothing class perfect for new to advanced practitioners. 50 minutes.

Yin Yoga - 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 5, 12, 19 & 26
Yin Yoga, an all-levels practice, was developed as a means to improve hip and spinal health. Students hold seated and supine poses for two to 10 minutes in an effort to decompress the joints and remove blockages from the connective tissue (ligaments, tendons and fascia) with attention to breathing.  Yin Yoga can provide a sense of therapeutic healing to the physical body and nervous system. This is an excellent, complementary practice to balance an active lifestyle, high impact sports, a busy work life and stress affecting the mind and soul. 30 minutes.

Classes are free for YMCA members. Non-members can purchase punch cards at the front desk. $40 for 6 classes and $75 for 15 classes.

Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga Community Class - 9-10:30 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 7
Pregnancy and new motherhood transforms women in a big, powerful, way, and an innate connection and understanding of this transformation exists between new and expecting moms. In this class, we bring together prenatal and postnatal women to share space, learn, grow and nurture one another through a feel-good, peaceful yoga flow suitable to all stages of pregnancy (12 weeks and beyond) and postpartum (four weeks to two years post-delivery). Yoga postures will balance energy, provide comfort and ease and play with stretching and strengthening the hips, core and shoulders. Light meditation and breathing exercises will be incorporated throughout class. When mom is radiant and healthy, so is baby. Soothe your mind, support your nervous system and give some love to your body in this empowering yoga class. Props such as mats, bolsters, blocks, straps and blankets provided. Cash donations only.
