75-minute Pre/ Postnatal Yoga - OMBody
5:30-6:45 p.m. Wednesday
Jan. 8

OmBody Massage & Wellness
90 West Main St., Uniontown, PA 15401

This combined pre and postnatal yoga class for expecting and new moms provides a supportive environment focused on self-care and stress relief during pregnancy, labor and motherhood.

Class will flow through a series of sequences designed to balance energy, from light, energizing, active postures to deeply restorative, soothing ones. Poses will focus on simple strength and functional mobility as well as flexibility and restoration. Meditation and breathwork will be incorporated for a complete and comprehensive experience that soothes mom's mind, body and soul.

Prenatal: Suitable for women in their first, second and third trimesters. We recommend being 12 weeks pregnant or more to attend.

Postnatal: We also suggest receiving a midwife or doctor's clearance to attend and that all post-birth bleeding has ceased. It is also encouraged that mothers wait four to six weeks after vaginal delivery and eight to 12 weeks post-cesarean to attend. All women who have given birth are welcome to attend.

Brynn has completed an advanced Prenatal/Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training at the Asheville Yoga Center and is the mother of two boys, whom she had naturally at home using active birthing techniques and yoga.

Arm Balance Workshop: two locations
8:30-10 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 9 at Mountain Laurel Yoga, Donegal Village Shoppes, 3782 PA 31, Suite 200, Donegal, PA

8:30-10 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 19 at OmBody, 90 W. Main St., Uniontown, PA

This 90-minute workshop will explore the foundations (core strength, balance, open hips and shoulders) for safely lifting into challenging, playful arm balances with integrity and correct alignment within the realm of a flowing, power yoga format. The focus is on starting from the ground up and learning what it takes to build toward arm balances, and the intention is to have fun! Beginning with a warm-up that targets the core and stretches the shoulders and hips, students will learn the keys to approaching classical arm balances with courage and mindfulness by using the breath. Each pose will be broken down step-by-step, in a precise, thoughtful, safe way, while keeping the rhythm of the vinyasa flow and cadence of ujayi breath. An adequate cooldown and savasana will be included. Props used: blocks and straps, which will be provided, or you can BYO. Email [email protected] with questions or to RSVP. Registration required.
