Ashtanga Yoga - 5-6:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 11
As nights get cooler and days get shorter, Warm Ashtanga Mix returns to the schedule. Autumn is a wonderful time to incorporate this practice as a means to fire up the body and soul!
Ashtanga is a system of yoga transmitted to the Western world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of India. This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive, fixed series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. Our studio mix incorporates the Primary Series, Second Series and Third Series linked with a flowing vinyasa, challenging you to maintain ujjayi breath, energy locks and a soft gaze throughout the dynamic practice. This vigorous, athletic class is open to all levels - intermediate students will be challenged to discover their growing edge while beginners will learn foundational asanas and a traditional practice.
We will stray from tradition (typically Ashtanga is taught sans music) by playing upbeat music that will keep the energy fun and light-hearted.

Postnatal Yoga - 3:30-4:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 11
Join me, mother of two boys, ages five months and four years, for Postnatal Yoga. The class will include poses and sequences that address recti diastasis (separated abs), incontinence, organ prolapse, pelvic function and other physical repercussions from pregnancy and labor. The gluteals, thighs and deep core muscles will be engaged with use of props (blocks, barre and straps) and pranayama (breathing exercises). Anatomical imbalances and meditation incorporated for a complete and comprehensive class to strengthen, stretch, restore, renew and balance mom's body, soul and mind.
It is recommended that mom receives clearance from her doctor to attend class and that all post-birth bleeding has ceased. It is also encouraged that mothers wait 4-6 weeks after vaginal delivery and 8-12 weeks post-cesarean to attend. Women up to two years postpartum are welcome to join.
