Hot Ashtanga Mix – 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays in September
Hot Ashtanga Mix is a system of yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive, fixed series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. Our studio mix incorporates the Primary Series, Second Series and Third Series linked with a flowing vinyasa, challenging you to maintain ujjayi breath, energy locks, and a soft gaze throughout the dynamic practice. This vigorous, athletic class is open to all levels while intermediate students will be challenged to discover their growing edge. Recommended for experienced yogis. First time students are discouraged from attending HOT classes, as they tend to be fast-paced, and are meant for those already familiar with basic postures.
Friday Nite Flow Donation Based Class – 6-7:15 p.m., Friday, Sept. 9
An all-levels slow flow to honor the life and friendship of Dr. Jesus Ho. A beloved personal friend of LPS, Dr. Ho spent his professional life bringing healing and compassion to his community of Moundsville, WV and to his native Philippines. Dr. Ho led annual medical missions to the Philippines for the past 34 years, in different provinces, cities and towns throughout the country. His missions supplied truckloads of equipment, supplies, medicine and, most critically, doctors and healthcare workers from around the country. Dr. Ho recruited scores of local doctors and allied health professionals to join him on his missions. He traveled throughout West Virginia providing free clinical services, in partnership with local hospitals, the Department of Health and The Lions Club. He also supported and promoted fundraising for the Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, a Philippine poverty alleviation movement, which builds new homes and villages in Cebu, Philippines. Dr. Ho's dying wish was to support another mission for the impoverished areas of the Philipines. The Dr. Ho’s Medical Mission Memorial Fund was established to help make this dream a reality. We are honored to support this mission with our donation class - please pay only what moves you - open your hearts to the healing serivce and compassion of others. Mission Trip will be held in February 2018 in Davao, Philippines. Dr. Ho's Obituary: http://www.theintelligencer.net/obituaries/2016/07/dr-jesus-ho/
